This Halloween season, dare to enter the eerie world of Sleepy Hollow. Back by popular demand, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is Ballet Fantastique’s wickedly funny dance-theater twist on one of the world’s most iconic ghost stories.
This immersive dance theater spin on Washington Irving’s 1820 classic follows would-be hero Ichabod Crane as he faces off against his fears—and the infamous Headless Horseman—in pursuit of fame, fortune, and romance. Venture to eerie Sleepy Hollow—a secret town hidden in the shadowy fall woods, where rumors of ghosts and goblins roam.
Set to a live, genre-bending score for electric fiddle and guitar played by Dréos with Gerry Rempel Ensemble, Sleepy Hollow fuses early American folklore with BFan’s signature wit, whimsy, and Emmy®-nominated theatrical storytelling.
Filled with thrills, laughs, and superstitious mischief, your favorite Halloween experience is back.

Three brand-new haunted houses (The Silver Scream, Forbidden Fortress, Slayers) anchor a full-blown festival of fear on select nights Oct 3 – Nov 1, 2025. After you claw your way out of the mazes, challenge the Carn-Evil Funhouse, brave the pitch-black Complex: Blackout, loose arrows at Zombie Archery, or cram into one of three mini escape games (Bus 666, Trap House, The Hot Seat). This small group personal training program is designed for groups of 8-10, offering the benefits of personal training in a group setting.

All fitness levels welcome, though you will need to be able to get up and down from the floor without assistance. A combination of weight training, balance exercises and some cardio with functional lifelong wellness in mind. Benefits include prevention of osteoporosis by stimulating the growth of muscle and bone, mental and emotional health, improved immune system, and most importantly lower risk of falls, metabolic diseases and cognitive decline.

Starting May 3, the heart of downtown Ashland will be home to the Saturday Market, running every Saturday until October 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the 100 block of Oak St. This exclusive one block long market provides healthy options, fresh organic produce, artisan foods, and more every week for the locals and travelers passing through. We encourage everyone to join us in supporting local while cultivating community in Southern Oregon.

Coming up Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25, is the Friends of the Redwood Libraries Autumn Book Sale, to be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days at the Eureka Library, 1313 Third St. This is the final scheduled sale of the year, so take the opportunity not only to stock up on reading for the coming winter months but also to pick to up some special gems for book loving friends and family. Friday’s sale is for members only, with memberships available at the door. Saturday’s sale is open to everyone.

Look for books in most subjects and genres, fiction and non-fiction, both hardback and paperback, from cookbooks to children's books to magazines, as well as a good selection of DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks. Credit cards welcomed. Small bills appreciated for cash sales.

As always, proceeds from the sale will benefit the entire Humboldt County Library system.
